a performing and teaching company

Praise for Shifting: “Left the audience in awe.”

“Two guest choreographers were brought to Sewanee and created pieces that flattered the dancers’ artistic ability and athleticism. Daniel Gwirtzman, artistic director of New York City-based Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company, crafted a duet for himself and director Courtney World that emphasized the power of simplicity and left the audience in awe. World’s and Gwirtzman’s movements compliment each other beautifully as they travel across the stage in unison.” The Sewanee Purple.

Shifting Performed December 7-10

Fifteen years ago this fall Shifting premiered at Joyce SoHo. Eva Yaa Asantewaa reviewed it in The Village Voice: “perhaps the most convincing unaffected tenderness I’ve seen in postmodern dance.” Fifteen years later the Company is proud the work continues to be presented–the wondrous life of a rep company! Shifting is performed Thursday, December 7 through Sunday, December 10 at The Tennessee Williams Center at The University of the South with Courtney World and the choreographer Daniel Gwirtzman. Ticket and other information can be accessed HERE. Preview article in The Winchester Herald Chronicle.
