The Party Premieres
The Party, choreographed by Gwirtzman, is a theatrical, narrative dance with scripted characters depicting a group of friends as they navigate the social dynamics of a gathering. The overarching concept explores the tipping point when intimacy crosses into inappropriate behavior and violence, peeking into the darker side of relationships and the pressures, dangers and abuses that can arise in a social context. Set to a score of celebrated pop, rock and disco, The Party is a humorously-musical and entertaining piece, ironic, unpredictable and visually striking. Commissioned by the Kennesaw State University Dance Company (Kennesaw, GA) the work features a set designed by Gwirtzman, costumes by Jill Peterson and Gwirtzman, and a robust cast of twelve KSU dance majors. The sixteen-minute dance will be expanded into a program-length one in 2017 for Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company.
