DGDC receives CUNY residency
The Company has been awarded a residency through the City University of New York (CUNY) Dance Initiative, a program providing rehearsal and performance space to New York City choreographers and dance companies. In its second year, CDI opens the doors of CUNY campuses to New York City choreographers and dance companies by assisting the colleges with artist fees, rehearsal expenses, and marketing efforts. DGDC will be in residence this summer at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn.
Overall CUNY is awarding 26 dance companies/choreographers residencies at 11 CUNY colleges in 2015. There were 142 applications. In addition to providing space for artists to create work and rehearse, all of the CDI projects include programs for students ― master classes, open rehearsals ― along with public events such as lecture-demonstrations and performances.
