Pier and Project CHORD Screen at NYU Conference

At the NYU/Tisch Dance and New Media Conference, Saturday April 8, Daniel presented the Company’s Project CHORD: Choreographic Help On Realizing Dance at NYU/Tisch School of the Arts Department of Dance’s Integrating Dance and Technology In University Dance Programs Conference. The film, a pedagogical tool to aid in the teaching of choreography, has received enthusiastic admiration from educators, academics and choreographers in the field. The Company’s well-admired film Pier also screened. During the talkback conference participants and presenters marveled that the film was not shot against a green screen, that the water was truly lapping at the pier’s edges. Film pioneer and scholar Ellen Bromberg, a Distinguished Professor at The University of Utah’s School of Dance, remarked that she has never seen an aura such as there is around Daniel’s body produced naturally on film. If you haven’t see Pier, produced thanks to The Sacatar Foundation, enjoy!

Terrain Screens April 3 in NYC

The Set NYC presented Terrain @ Lovecraft NYC Film Screenings, Monday, April 3, 2017.

Filmed in the desert region of Murcia, southern Spain, Terrain depicts a body in a vast mountainous landscape. At first a mere dot indistinguishable against this rocky backdrop, the viewer is challenged to discern the camouflaged body, a kind of Where’s Waldo. As the film progresses, the performer gradually comes into close focus, revealing detailed glimpses of the body akin to an animal in the wild.
